Drill press
The drill press is a mounted version of the drill. They are typically mounted on pedestals or stands and fastened, typically by bolts,to work benches or floors. The drill press has many advantages over a hand drill by way of being able to hold a workpiece steady, and at different angles on the table of the drill press. The depth of the drill can be set on many drill presses, and the head of the drill has a handle that lowers the drill into the piece. This allows for easily repeated drilling operations and reduces fatigue and errors that can occur with hand drills. Most modern drill press are powered by wired electric motors, and to large and heavy to be portable as a hand drill.
